The later filigree jewelry has different color and thickness; not fine lacy platinum. The top also has a wide mounting with the same filigree wrapped around the top down to the band. Top of ring sits 1/4" above the finger line. The citrine paste has beautiful gold color and sparkle and is completely original to the ring. Size of top measures 7/16" north to south by 1/2" east to west. The citrine paste measures just about 13mm by 10mm. As is common with antique past it has abrasion on the top but the stone is so deeply color and sparkly that any scratches are only eye obvious with inspection. All of the prong tip are intact; no missing or worn down so the stone still fits securely in the mounting. Ring size is an original 7.5. It was never resized and this is very unusual for this era as women's fingers were on average much smaller back then compared to today. These antique filigree rings are always found in a much smaller size. As per AI the average women's wedding ring size was size 5. You can also see that this is the original band. If you look closely at the photos you will see that the band is wider on the outside than the inside. In other words, the part that touches the bottom of your finger has a shorter width and extends down longer on the sides. This is why so many of these antique rings have bends that are very worn down or replaced or resized. This one is all original and Not worn down. More modern jewelry from mid century to now is exactly the opposite with the wider part of the band being the part that touches your finger. Overall condition is excellent. This is an absolutely gorgeous early paste filigree ring for your antique jewelry collection. Nice and big and showy.

Antique 1791 George III Irish Sterling Silver Master Salt Cellar Trench by Matthew West
Antique 1791 George III Irish Sterling Silver Master Salt Cellar Trench by Matthew West
Made in 1791 by Matthew West this is a lovely George III Irish sterling silver large waisted cylindrical trencher salt, master salt cellar. Matthew West was a well known and highly accomplished silversmith in Dublin in the 1700s. The top left hallmark in the photo provided identifies it as solid sterling silver. It is also tested and Guaranteed solid sterling silver. The stylized, lowercase script letter "t" stamp on the bottom left corner corresponds to the Dublin Assay Office calendar year of 1791. You can see this is an early trench from the Georgian period and originally hand crafted by a master silversmith. Size is large and heavy gauge intended to sit in the center of the formal dining table where upon each person would be given an individual salt in order to take salt from the master salt cellar. As per AI: "Large, ornate "standing salts" historically sat in the middle of a communal table as a sign of wealth, whereas trencher salts were designed for individual use and date back to the 17th century." The inside bottom of the cellar is hand engraved with the initials of the person/family for whom it was originally made or for whom it was to be presented as a gift. This particular master salt is quite large and showy. This silversmith was very adept at decorating the salt with large fancy gadroon work around the top and extending out of the bottom around the entire circumference. Additionally, it has hand chased scallops going around the top underneath the rim which sits directly below the gadrooned top. Weight is 57.4 grams. Its condition is very good given its 235 year old age. No cracks or tears or repair or deep scratches. The top and bottom rims are no longer symmetrically round. Other than this it is in excellent, very gently used condition. It still sits flat on the table without any wobble. The bottom rim sits perfectly on the table even though it is off round. This item was purchased from an estate many decades ago and is a most unusual and early large master salt by a very prominent 1700s silversmith for your antique sterling silver collection.

Large Antique 1910s 1920s Fancy Pink Mauve Unusual Color Paste Stone Floral Filigree Pin
Large Antique 1910s 1920s Fancy Pink Mauve Unusual Color Paste Stone Floral Filigree Pin
This is a stunning early large paste filigree pin set in silver metal with a multi floral design that ripple up and down throughout the pin. The paste stone is an unusual large pinkish mauve light plum color, is faceted, and has rainbow effect at the edges from the lead used to make it. The paste stone appears to be early 1920s while the setting looks aesthetic and a bit earlier. The back has its original locking clasp. Size of stone is 2" east to west by 3/4" north to south. Likely from the original setting of the stone there is one section of the back on the end of the stone that has a 2-3mm opening on the very narrow silver edge but you can also see this in other areas of the back around the stone so it is like from the original casting and jeweler setting. The flowers resemble buttercups and lilies and alternate throughout. Size of pin is 3 1/8" long east to west by 1 7/8" tall north to south. No cracks or chips or flakes or abrasions to the stone. All original and intact. Never altered or repaired. It was purchased from an estate many decades ago and has not been polished out. Other than this it is a gorgeous rare and hard to find pink mauve colored paste pin in excellent condition for your fine antique and vintage jewelry collection.
