About Mid Century Signed Daisy Jewelry
Chat GPT AI:
Probable date
Based on the construction and enamel style:
Late 1960s – 1980s (most likely 1970s)
Indicators:
Textured cast gold-tone back
Painted enamel sections
Simple rollover safety clasp
Novelty figural theme popular in that period
Style category collectors use
If you ever sell it, collectors usually describe these as:
“Sombrero men brooch”
“Mariachi trio brooch”
“Mexican dancer figural pin”
Looking closely at your brooch, the figures do appear to be men wearing sombreros. The wide brims, pointed crowns, and the way the figures are posed strongly resemble stylized Mexican mariachi or folkloric dancers.
What the design shows
Key features that support this interpretation:
Large sombrero hats with high pointed crowns and wide brims
Walking/dancing pose, often used in mariachi or folkloric dancer designs
Short jacket and trousers rather than dresses
Three-figure “procession” motif, common in tourist-style jewelry
The purple enamel sections likely represent jackets and pants.
The “Daisy” mark
The small plaque on the back reading “Daisy” is most likely a manufacturer’s or line mark used on inexpensive costume jewelry.
