These Mexican gemstone hooks are not easy to find….In excellent condition this is a vintage 1970s-1980s Taxco Mexican Sterling Silver and onyx cabochon watch, vest hook or chatelaine belt hook. It is sign fer’s with the f and s being elongated. This mark is assigned to the family workshop of Ester Barrios Rodriquez and was hand crafted by Artega Barrios. It is also marked 925 for sterling silver quality along with TA-148 with the T to signify Taxco Origin and the A to represent the first name of the maker in the workshop – Artego Barrios. The maker mark is found under the top of the hook in the back. Overall condition of this piece is excellent. No damage or repair. Size is 1 1/4″ tall north to south by 1″ wide east to west across the center of the body. The cabochon is approximately 18mm by 13mm. Weight is 8.4 grams. Beautiful overall condition. This is a lovely unusual belt and/or dangle hook for your watch, vest, fob, etc….hand made by a known Taxco workshop for your vintage Mexican Silver collection.
