Description
This is a vintage 1970s showy signed Goldette double chain heavy gold plated necklace with fancy curved linear textured barrel shaped elements and the slightly dark antique Russian/French finish in the grooves for which Goldette was well-known. It has its original large signed Goldette gold nugget clasp. Old store stock. Overall excellent condition. No damage or repair. No dents or dings. Only ever used for display behind a counter. It is still bright quite crisp. Not worn down. Size is just about 24″ with the clasp. Each single chain is 3mm wide across each barrel. It is well made and strung on gold plated wire. These vintage Goldette necklaces look, feel, and wear like real gold and this one is a lovely example. It has good thick noticeable linkage so it can be worn the way it is for a layered look or just add an enhancer on the lower chain for a more showy vintage statement pendant necklace.

About 1960s and 1970s Goldette:
Goldette multi-strand, layered necklaces (double and more) were popular and produced during the 1960s through the late 1970s. These pieces frequently featured an antiqued “Russian gold” finish, which is a gold-toned metal alloy designed with darkened, deliberate shadowing in the grooves to emulate antique, Victorian-style jewelry.
Key Details About 1970s Goldette Necklaces:
Layered Design: Known for multi-strand, graduated chains (often 2–6 strands) in mixed styles like curb or rope links.
Finish: The “dark French finish” or “Russian gold” plating created a tarnished, vintage appearance.
Motifs: Often featured cameos, intaglios, or amber-colored stones.
Signatures: While many earlier pieces were marked “Goldette N.Y.”, pieces from the 1970s are often unmarked or simply marked “Goldette”.
