As per google:
The experimental period for mid-century cufflinks with two different colors primarily occurred in the 1950s and 1960s. This was part of the broader Mid-Century Modern (MCM) design movement, which emphasized creative expression through bold colors, geometric shapes, and new materials.
Key characteristics of this experimental period include:
- Artistic enameling: Cufflinks were frequently made with colored enamel over materials like copper, brass, and sterling silver. Artists and manufacturers experimented with abstract designs that combined contrasting colors.
- Mixed metals: Cufflinks often featured two-tone designs using different metals, such as gold and silver or copper and silver, creating visual contrast and interest.
- Playful, modernist designs: The two-color style was a departure from more traditional, single-metal cufflinks. The resulting pieces, with their striped, color-blocked, and abstract patterns, were intended to be fun and individualistic.
- Designer pieces: Many well-known accessory companies, including Swank and Anson, produced cufflinks during this period that featured two-tone designs
