Description
This is a pair of vintage 1940s-1960s mid 20th century Mexican sterling silver individual salt cellars. They are marked Sanborns (Mexico City) with the #6 owl mark to indicate Sanborn Brothers Walter & Frank along with the numbered assay guaranteeing solid sterling silver…..not plated. They are beautifully hand crafted and very weighty; strong and durable. They will last indefinitely. Size of each salt is 1 1/2″ across by 1″ tall. Total combined weight of both salts is 48gr. They have not been polished out in many decades and the insides need a good polishing. Overall condition of both is excellent. No dents or dings. No tears or deep scratches. Light surface age wear only. Never monogrammed or inscribed. Never altered or repaired. All original. A lovely showy pair of hand forged sterling silver individual servers for your dining table. Many people use these for individual crushed nuts and seed toppings or individual sugar servers.
