About Mid Century Florenza Resin or Glass Cameo Pins/Brooches
AI:

Vintage 1970s Florenza cameos—including those with brown resin/plastic, root beer glass, or moulded profiles on beige backgrounds—are considered collectible. Florenza is a sought-after costume jewelry brand known for its Victorian Revival style, ornate filigree metalwork, and high-quality construction, even when using resin or glass instead of carved shell.

Here is why these specific cameos are collected:
“Fabulous Florenza” Popularity: Florenza jewelry (c. 1948-1981) is highly regarded by costume jewelry collectors, and their cameos are prized for their detailed, antique look.
1970s Styling: Many Florenza pieces from the 1970s featured brown and beige tones, including imitation tortoise shell or brown “root beer” glass cameos, which fit the popular fashion trends of that era.
Ornate Settings: These cameos are typically mounted in high-quality gold-plated or antiqued metal frames (often described as “Florenza Gold”) with intricate filigree work.
Value and Rarity: While not as expensive as antique hand-carved shell cameos, signed Florenza resin cameos often sell for respectable prices ($20–$60+), depending on the complexity of the frame and condition.
Authenticity: They are often signed “Florenza” on the back, usually on a textured surface, making them easy to identify.
While some collectors prefer the genuine hand-carved shell cameos also made by Florenza, the moulded resin and glass cameos are popular for their dramatic appearance and affordability.
