Description
Made by William Henry Leather (well-known manufacturer jeweler) registered at 11 Pitsford Street in Birmingham during the late 1800s. He was known for registering pieces with local assay offices for commemorative and souvenir jewelry. This pin is an example of his Victorian souvenir jewelry featuring the Blackpool Tower in Lancashire. It has the British lion passant hallmark for sterling silver purity and has also been jeweler tested as sterling silver quality. It also has the hallmark of 3 wheatsheaves and a sword which is the town mark for the Chester Assay Office where this piece was originally registered. The Year Date Letter hallmark of a lowercase q in a shield cartouche indicates the year of production as 1899. It also has its original Victorian C Clasp with its original long rod that extends out from the clasp. Other than needing a polishing it is in excellent overall condition. Completely original. Never altered or modified. Hasn’t been touched in many decades. This is a lovely antique Victorian estate item for you antique and vintage silver and gold jewelry collection.
