Based on vintage jewelry market listings, 1970s hand-painted floral porcelain brooches in heavy gold-plated or gold-tone oval bezels were frequently produced by manufacturers in Western Germany, England, and Japan. While many were unsigned, key makers and styles from this era include:
Exquisite (Western Germany): Known for producing 1970s hand-painted porcelain brooches, often featuring yellow roses, in gold filigree or heavy gold-tone settings.
Limoges (France): Popular during this period, these often featured hand-painted flowers on white porcelain set in oval, ornate gold-plated frames.
Otagiri Mercantile Company (OMC, Japan): Hand-painted porcelain floral items from Japan were often imported in the 1960s and 1970s, sometimes identified with a gold and yellow sticker.
English Porcelain Makers: Companies such as Dorothy Ann China Co, Staffordshire, Aynsley, and Denton China Co were active, with Dorothy Ann known for hand-painted flower brooches.
Rosenthal: Vintage hand-painted porcelain floral brooches, specifically oval shapes, were also made by Rosenthal in the 1970s.
Many of these items are described as “Victorian Revival,” a popular style in the 1970s that utilized oval porcelain plaques with hand-painted roses, violets, or daisies surrounded by heavy, ornate gold-plated metal filigree or solid bezels.
