Description
From an estate, hardly ever used, no monogram and excellent original condition in its original presentation box this is a set of 6 lovely fruit spoons made by Tillander of Helsinki Finland and part of the Suomen Kultaseppa O.Y. (LTD) Finska Guldsmeds A.E. (Gold and Silversmiths Guild).
Tillander is one of the major Finnish silversmith firms known to have used:
pictorial maker’s marks (not just initials)
including tool/hammer-style symbols in some periods
The tool symbol (maker mark), crown-in-heart (Finland control mark),
813H to indicate 813 silver purity, A7 mark (1957), town mark.
This is exactly the formal Finnish hallmark sequence used by established Helsinki maker, Tillander.
The handles have a noticeable mid century minimalist Nordic design. There are a total of 6. Weight is 127.7 grams. Condition is extremely excellent. This is a superb example of mid century Scandinavian Finnish silver by Tillander, one of Finland’s foremost silver makers for your formal dining table and mid century modern silver collection. The presentation box has age wear and the gold isn’t as bright as it once was.
