This is a fine quality hand made Southwestern sterling silver cross pendant with brass trim. Marked 925. It has a thick twisted brass raised edge and deep fancy engraved work throughout. It is also curved outward in the center. Very well made with thick, quality sterling silver. Size is 1 5/8″ tall with the bale and just about 1″ across the arms. Weight is 5.5 grams. No damage. Excellent condition. It has a large wide bale. Just add any chain or beaded necklace up to 4mm and you will have a beautiful showy Southwestern cross necklace.

The 1950s poodle skirt was a ‘50s favorite, often in white, standing at the hem of the skirt, complete with a curly embroidered or sequin leash. Even more decorations came in the form of the large applique cats, squirrels, guitars, or catchy phrases like “See You Later Alligator.” The poodle skirt became a lasting icon of the 1950s especially for teenagers but women wore them too with more mature appliques such as the Eiffel tower, telephone, and martinis.ORIGIN:
You have heard of Poodle skirts and their association with 1950’s fashion, but you may not know how they originated or the profound influence they have had on women’s fashions since that time. The phenomenon started in 1947 when 25-year-old Juli Charlot needed a skirt to wear to a holiday party in Los Angeles. Because she couldn’t sew, she cut a big circle of felt with a hole in the middle to fit her waist and appliquéd Christmas trees to it. Felt was the only material available that was wide enough to cut a complete circle skirt without any seams. The skirt was a huge hit. A week after the party she sold the skirt to raise money to go to design school and learn how to sew. Eventually as demand for her skirts grew, she opened her own factory. Although she continued to get orders, money was tight. Then a New York designer visited her factory, found her in tears, and invested enough money for the business to take off.TYPES:
Although many appliqué designs were used on the skirts, it was the elegant, well groomed Poodle with a swirly leash that proved to be the most popular. In fact circular skirts with other designs were often called Poodle skirts. The full skirt was a welcome change from the straight or pleated below the knee skirts that were worn by young girls and women of the day. Poodle skirts were worn with flirty petticoats and a wide cinch belt. The skirt looked cute on young girls, but pretty silly on their mothers and grandmothers. In other words Poodle skirts were one of the first “too young for you” fashions. From that time on, seeing a youth market with money to spend, many designers worked exclusively on clothing geared to the young.References:

Vintage 925 Sterling Silver Onyx Marcasite Pendant
This is a vintage 925 sterling silver, black onyx and faceted marcasites pendant or enhancer in excellent, ready to wear condition. The onyx has no chips, cracks, flakes or wear marks. It is hand cut and bezel set. The sterling silver has no tears, deep scratches, dents or dings. It has a good clean FANCY casting with nice thick sterling silver and fancy millgrain work on all of the edges including the bale. Good quality workmanship. All marcasites are set evenly and properly. The bale loop measures 4mms to hold pearls or beaded necklaces. Pendant size without the bale is 1". With the fancy matching bale it is 1 1/4" tall North to South with the bale by 5/8" wide across the bottom. Add a chain or beads for a beautiful vintage statement necklace.

Heavy Laurence De Vries 14k Gold And Sterling Silver 41.6g 3″ Long Pendant
This is an amazing 1980s-90s Laurence Devries heavy hand made sterling silver and 14K gold pendant. The 2 hand applied caps on top are solid 14K yellow gold. Marked Devries, Sterling, 14K, and other maker hallmarks. Size is 3" long by 1" wide across the heart. Thickness is 1/4", very very thick. Weight is very heavy at 41.6 grams. It has one tiny sliver of a rough spot at the edge of the material where it meets the bezel on the upper right shoulder of the heart. Other than this the condition is excellent, gently used. No dents. No deep scratches, tears or gauges. No repair. This is an exceptional, amazing pendant by a master designer who was recognized by leading galleries in NYin 1975 for his incredible talent, skills and crafting. Just add a chain and you will have a most unusual hand made necklace for your vintage designer jewelry collection.
