Antique Victorian 3″ Gold Filled Plate Mens Pocket Watch Hunter Case No mechanism, Oversized Case
Gorgeous large (54mm across canter) antique late Victorian to early Art Nouveau period mens pocket watch case that was never monogrammed or inscribed. Original hook and stem winder are intact. The original inside sleeve is still present. The only marking is a crown hallmark inside the cover.
It has both engraved and recessed fluer de lis amid a fancy textured and woven gold background. The engraved work is highly elaborate and strongly detailed. Between the front and back is an intricately fancy repoussed panel that runs all the way around the outer edge of the case. There is also raised cartouche shield on one side.
Size is large. It measures 3″ tall north to south from top of hook to bottom hinge. Across the center east to west measures 2 1/8″ wide. Depth from front top to back is just over 1″ deep.
Condition is excellent, very gently used. No dents or dings. No deep scratches. No damage or repair. There are a few light age wear marks that could be polished out. The lock is secure and works well. The hinge is strong and also works well.
