Description
Made of solid sterling silver by Saart Brothers between 1915 and 1940s this is an antique Art Deco toddler spoon and fork set with the name Santo engraved on the handles. Size of each is 4″ long and the spoon bowl is quite wide across measuring 1 1/4″ east to west across the center. Weight is 31.8 grams. From an intergenerational estate years ago and kept in excellent overall condition. No dents, dings or tears to the sterling silver. No damage or repair. Never altered. All original matched set. This is a wonderful and most unusual estate find for anyone who wants an antique silver fork and spoon set gift for a baby/child named Santo. I highly suspect that there are very few American antique sterling toddler flatware sets with the original engraved name of Santo out there!
- The Maker: Saart Brothers Company. The company was originally established around 1906 by William and Albert Saart. They were prominent manufacturers of sterling silver flatware, dresser sets, novelties, and hollowware.
- The Mark Details: The “STERLING” stamp designates the American standard of 92.5% pure silver. The manufacturer trademark features a stylized
SandBflanking a small, central shield containing a crown (sometimes mistranslated as a crest or eagle at a glance). - The Date: This exact stamp configuration was predominantly used during the height of their sterling flatware and vanity production, running roughly from circa 1915 to the 1940s.
