Description
Made between 1880 and 1910 this is a beautiful Arts & Crafts sterling silver belt or sash buckle made by Codman Sterling who was affiliated with Gorham sterling. The Codman family was highly regarded for its handwrought Arts & Crafts sterling silver accessories. The top is decorated with well rasied and finely detailed blossoms with bellflowers. Size of buckle is 2 7/8″ tall down the center of the body. The center is measurement is longest. The outer edges corner point down to corner point is 2 1/8″ tall. East to west across the center is 2″. Weight is 31.3 grams. Overall condition is excellent. The mechanism with the 2 teeth to go into the belt or sash works freely and easily. Never monogrammed or inscribed. Never altered, modified or inscribed. No damage. No dents or dings. No deep scratches or tears. From an estate and not freshly polished out. This is a gorgeous antique Arts & Crafts belt/sash accessory for anyone who collects and and vintage sterling silver and ladies’ or mens’ accessories.
