Description
This is a 1938 vintage Art Deco track and field medal award with its original gold and blue ribbon attached. From an estate from many years ago and the medal has wear all over. It has never been polished out or professionally cleaned. The front reads either B.R.A. or S.R.A. Since it is from NY it is likely S.R.A for Catholic school sports, where the SRA often stands for Saint Raphael Athletic Association or similar parish-based athletic organizations (e.g., St. Robert Athletic Association). These volunteer-led associations manage sports programs, equipment, and teams for parish elementary schools, often participating in CYC or local Catholic leagues. I could not find any other local NY reference for the letters on the front of the medal. Size of just the medal is 1.25″ across. For any sports or medal enthusiast this is a lovely older vintage medal for your collection.
