Vintage Mid Century Tanosa Luxury Brand Mexican Sterling Silver Small Dish

Vintage Mexican sterling silver mid century dish made by Tanosa. The front has an incised mark, Tanosa along with 2 small hallmarks; a star in a crescent moon and a very tiny circle make with the letter B below the numbers 540 or it could be 5 with a pictoral mark and a zero. Very tiny and hard to read. It also has a center raised stylized water well emblem which served as Tonosa’s unique maker mark during the mid 20th century. The  factory catalog number of 60-0-73 is also stamped into the front. Additionally, it is tested and guaranteed solid sterling silver; not plated. Size is 3 3/4″ across in diameter by 1/2″ deep. It is all hand crafted with a delicately gadrooned edge, much like a small sawtooth cut. Overall condition is excellent, gently used. It is from an estate from many years ago and could use a fresh polishing. Weight is 28 grams.

During the 1950s through the 1970s, Mexico City was a major hub for world-class silver craftsmanship, home to famous houses like Sanborns, Maciel, and Maricela. Tanosa established itself firmly within this luxury market, crafting fine sterling tableware, coin-rimmed dishes, and decorative holloware that was highly popular with both affluent locals and international tourists visiting the capital.
The piece’s construction is consistent with high-grade Mexican sterling, which frequently ranges between .925 and .950 purity and is widely collected today for its exceptional historical charm

In Great Condition this is a lovely Antique Victorian to Edwardian Turn of the Century Period Fancy Open Work Large Dual Handled Silverplated Basket. Originally intended for Dessert/Cracker/Chunk Cake and meant to be brought to the table to be used as a Centerpiece OR to be used as a Bride's basket containing small flowers and or flower petals. It is marked EPNS and Maker Marked DA with a Hallmark between the D and the A. Also marked with a large letter G and numbered 6336. Size 11 1/2″ tall North to South by 12 3/4″ long East to West by 8 1/2″ wide across the center. Depth from edge to bottom is over 2″. Excellent very gently used. No Wear to the Silverplate! No dents, dings, deep scratches, tears etc…Never monogrammed or inscribed. It is from an estate and completely original, absolute minimal wear having only a sight bend to the double handle. Looks like it was hardly ever used. This is a gorgeous antique basket for your table or wedding is a large, showy size with plenty of fancy Victorian Edwardian open work and in great shape for your table or silver collection. The antique Victorian open work and deeply scalloped design is very pretty. It is also strong and very well made – precisely done, not sloppy. Still very crisp and clear. Silver is 99.9% intact, bright and shiny! All good!!

Antique 1904 Sterling Silver Margh Aries Spoon English Cornish Name Mark
This is an antique zodiac Gorham Black Starr and Frost 1904 sterling silver name table spoon - Margh; this is the UK English Cornish name for Mark. It is marked and guaranteed to be solid sterling silver.....Not plated. It also has an M makers hallmark along with early Gorham hallmarks. The handle is beautifully decorated in relief with a raised Aries, a detailed bull, Aries symbol, an Art Nouveau scroll shell design, and a ball end top. There is also some raised flora in the bowl and an engraved 21st toward the center of the handle. Likely presented to Margh for a 21st birthday in 1904 or Margh's birthday fell on the 21st of the month. It is thick, chunky, strong and very well made. Nice and solid. Other than age scratches that can be polished out it is in excellent condition. No dents, dings, tears, gauges or damage. Size is just about 6" long. Weight is HEAVY at 39 grams. This is a lovely antique presentation gift for anyone named Margh or Mark!
