About Petite 1950s Coro Scatter Pin Jewelry,
Google AI:petite Coro pins and small brooches were highly popular in the 1950s. During this era, Coro was one of the largest and most prominent costume jewelry manufacturers, known for producing affordable and fashionable jewelry.
Here is why they were popular and what styles were trending:
“Scatter Pins” Trend: While large statement brooches were used on coat lapels, smaller pins—often referred to as “scatter pins”—were very fashionable in the 1950s, particularly for decorating blouses, collar points, and hats.
Designs & Themes: Popular Coro designs included delicate enameled flowers, pastel pieces, figural designs (animals/insects), and gold-tone bows with small rhinestones.
Themed Sets: Petite pins were often sold as sets or in pairs, sometimes referencing themes like crowns (influenced by Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in the early 50s) or stylized florals.
Versatility: These pins offered a “fine” look with a “faux” price tag, allowing women to accessorize their daily wardrobe with pearls, crystals, and rhinestone accents.
By the 1950s, Coro was widely distributed in department stores, making their pieces highly accessible staples of mid-century fashion.
