Description

Antique 18K Gold Edwardian Art Deco 1920s Diamond Ring

This is a very fancy 1920s late Edwardian to early Art Deco 18K white gold and natural mined, original, non enhanced, diamond filigree ring. It is marked 18K, jeweler tested and guaranteed to be solid 18k white gold. The setting is gorgeous with open filigree work and deep millgrain tiny cut millgrain style edges throughout. It also has a row of very tiny deeply engraved flowers on the front top and bottom as well as a tiny flower on each side. This is mixed in with the fancy filigree open work and forms a lovely, intricate setting for the natural mined brilliant diamond in the center. There is also additional fancy engraved work going down the sides. The front and back have millgrained open filigree as well.

This ring is from an estate and in very good to excellent condition. Original owner has her 1950s engagement diamond reset into her mother’s 1920s setting many years ago. The diamond is excellent. No cracks, chips, flakes, abrasions etc… No damage. The 90 year old setting has some minor wear. The bottom of the band is thin, had a prior resize, and has age wear. It is currently secure and able to be worn the way it is but you may to have it thickened a little at some point in the future. These early filigree rings had very thin and delicate bands when they were originally made so you know it’s original. This is one way to tell it is old and not a modern remake.

The center stone is a fine, better than average quality, SI2/3 clean, early brilliant cut, natural diamond. Quite eye clean and very lively. You can clearly see through the facets. No visible inclusions or cracks. Slightly imperfect having a 2 very white dots that are only found with magnification toward the bottom of the stone. Color is G/H near colorless; it faces up icy clear white and showy. This diamond has an unusual abundance of life with plenty of sparkle. It is crisp, clear, clean and bright and looks beautiful even in natural day lighting. Total carat diamond weight is approximately .5 carat and measures just about 5mm across.

Ring size is 6.75. Weight is 2.6 grams. This is a stunning 1920s diamond ring in solid 18K white gold for any engagement or antique jewelry collection. It is beautifully made, has a very fine quality diamond and strong presence.
