Antique Art Deco Fancy Filigree 14K White Gold 7ct Amethyst Ring – Large, showy1920s early Art Deco fancy filigree, ornate open work ring holds a large 16m natural mined amethyst. It is marked 14K, jeweler tested and Guaranteed to be solid 14k gold. The amethyst is over 7 carats and impressive. It has very deep rich purple color as you would see in a Russian amethyst. The setting has thick fancy open filigree work all the way around on the undermount and draping down the sides. In addition, the edges have tiny, intricate, millgrain style cut work. The prongs are double wide and deeply engraved. The sides have tiny fancy raised flowers along with dripping leaves. **Stone bottom is rounded and sits a little below setting and is not noticeable when the ring is worn.
Ring size is 4 1/2. Weight is 4 grams.
Condition: There are 2 bends to the setting, one under a prong which is not visibile and the other is off to the side. No breaks to the filigree. From an estate and very gently used having no repair or alteration of any kind. It was never resized and still maintains its original small size. As is commonly found with period jewelry from this era the ring size is quite small but can be resized by any good jeweler. As an original estate ring in a very small ring size you know it is an early original Art Deco ring as a woman’s body frame was much smaller back then.
The stone is very large and deep for the setting so the rounded culet or point is below the undermount. This is not eye obvious when the ring is worn and it can still be used well on the finger but if you are very sensitive it may not be right for you as the rounded point under the stone will touch your finger first. The amethyst gemstone is large and beautiful being free of any chips or cracks or hairlines or deep abrasions. It is very showy with good sparkle.
